With the conclusion of the latest round of negotiations in Islamabad, both the United States and Iran shifted toward addressing their major outstanding issues through communication channels facilitated by Pakistan and other regional states. Nevertheless, the core challenge remains the two parties’ adherence to their historical roles: the United States seeks to manage the negotiations through a unilateral framework, while Iran continues to uphold its anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric and rejects making concessions under their pressure and demands.
